The Weybourne Project was put together in the spring of 2006. The members were returning from the far reaches of the Canadian East and West coasts. Justin, Jeff and Chris rented a house in Oakville, conveniently located on Weybourne Street and the project thereby commenced. Brent soon joined the band as the drummer and the Weybourne Project was complete. Justin McArthur leads the band with his ingenious songwriting ability and his amazing talent for the lead guitar. Jeff Glover fills the bass gap with his infectious bass riffs, which are very unique and compliment his stellar guitar techniques. Chris Nickle hammers the rhythm guitar and utilizes his bluegrass roots to pluck his way throughout the guitar. Brent envies John Bonham and his style of drumming, although for a rock reggae style, he compliments his idol's heavy right foot and masterful fills.
The Weybourne Project are surf nutts. With the exception of the drummer, the Weybourne Project are dedicated surfers and have been surfing the great lakes for years. This lifestyle has definitely transcended into the music and the boys have been approached to work on the music for an upcoming Great Lakes surfing video and a mini-series, Frozen Nutts, which is being pitched to CBC and OLN.
The project writes all of their music together and it usually commences with a wicked riff. Soon drums, bass and rhythm guitar are added to the mix to fill the void with beautiful sounds and contagious beats.
The Weybourne Project has been lucky enough to share the stages with some great Ontario bands including Dodger, Ill Scarlett and Walk off the Earth. These bands are greatly talented and have been nothing but the best dudes to the project who have just arrived on the scene. The boys have created some great relationships with these bands and are also looking forward to meeting some new reggae bands and playing some new venues across Canada, North America and the rest of the world.
The Weybourne Project has completed half of its first EP with hits like Genocide, Roots Reggae, A Minor and Lost to name a few. They are heading back into the studio soon to finish off Right There, Murda, Riding Home and a few other tunes which are in the works.
The Weybourne Project are very pleased to be endorsed by Cole Clark Guitars. Please check out their website, www.coleclark-america.com and look at their georgous guitars. The Weybourne Project plays the acoustic FL-2 and the electric Mistress. Both guitars are amazing and the technology that has been put into these guitars are top notch and it results in great sounds and music.
Look out in 2007 for the Weybourne Project as they will be heading in your direction. The project is currently booking dates from Halifax to Vancouver Island. Keep a look out on their tunester account or their myspace account for upcoming shows.
